They will eventually be made for ALL calibers...Whoopee! |
Re: New Saiga mags from Surefire
How good is the quality of the polymer?
I've never heard good things about them... |
Re: New Saiga mags from Surefire
Many gun manufacturers have gone to polymer mags...very durable and can be made much more cheaply, won't dent or rust.
Early reports are the Surefires are sturdy, well made, manufactured in USA...they add 3 more 922r compliant parts to the list(?)... if that is a concern...They are somewhat expensive, but do offer another mag option for dedicated Saiga owners who bought their rifle because it was a solid alternative to say, the mini-14, and did not want the added cost to convert to traditional pistol grip configuration and conventional mags. I have steel ones which are modified from East German Weiger mags...which I would prefer...however there is a question about whether or not they comply with 922r import regulations. As far as using polymer mags, I have grown to like them in the Saiga (and AK) because they tend to fit more snugly, are quiet and don't rattle like the steel ones do. Most gun folk have the view that magazines as expendable anyway--they do wear out--so buy plenty of them along with ammo! |

They have 'em for the same price for the 30 round in 7.62x39 as well, which is the model that I'm looking to buy:
